To complete the UX Diploma from UXDI, we were tasked to complete a full UX study and design for a start-up airline company. Below, I have detailed my many steps involved in this journey.

The Journey

User Research

During the research journey, I completed Competitive Benchmark Analysis, Usability Studies and Interviews with potential app users.

Analysis

Analysing the previous research, I was able to begin curating Customer Journey Maps and Affinity Diagrams to break down the exact user requirements for this new app.

Concept Focus

Creating concept flows, analysis the interactions users would take and building a picture of a user's journey through the software helped develop the designs and interactions throughout the app.

Design Focus

The fun part!!

Using Figma, I created a basic interaction level design of the app. I then followed this with a more complex, design focused version of the app to enable walkthroughs. This was then translated onto Proto.io.

ANALYSIS

This module appealed to my research and analytical side - breaking down all the information I'd collated over the past few weeks and pulling it together to understand the initial, basic flow of the app.

CONCEPT FOCUS

CONCEPT

Conceptual development of the app meant I was able to create basic low-fidelity wireframes and match these against customer journeys previously created, as well as obtain early-days customer feedback. A hugely useful and iterative stage.

Plain Wireframes and Journeys

Pulling the data together from the research and analysis I was able to develop a basic low level journey through the app.

DESIGN FOCUS

DESIGN

Using Figma, I created my initial Medium Fidelity wireframes and decided to utilise these for my annotations. Having used a different software for the final High Fidelity Prototype, it made sense to build on my existing wireframes. I’ve also been fortunate enough to discuss and run through the notes with a Front End Developer which has really helped my understanding of translating design into code.
